Calling all writers

When I started this site, my ultimate goal was to turn it into something kind of similar to Albuquerque’s excellent Duke City Fix blog, which features a team of regular contributors and also accepts pieces from guest bloggers from time to time.

The plan was to start small, with just my husband and me writing reviews, give the blog a couple of months to get a bit of a following, and then invite a few other folks to contribute reviews. Now that Indie Tulsa is up and running and people are participating regularly, I think we’re ready to expand the net a little bit.

If you are interested in writing reviews for Indie Tulsa, please post a comment labeled “NOT FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION.” In your comment, tell me who you are and how to get hold of you (an e-mail address is sufficient, and as the subject line indicates, these will NOT be made available for public viewing). I will then e-mail you with guidelines for submitting photographs, reviews, etc.

The idea here is to get as many businesses listed as possible, and to get several different people chiming in with ideas and reviews. Tulsa’s independent businesses are a valuable resource, and one that contributes much to the community.

As always, if you’re enjoying the blog and the businesses it promotes, please tell your friends about it. The more traffic we get, the more we can help Tulsa’s small businesses.

  1. Love the site. I will tell everyone. How about something on Ace Hardware on Peoria, Super 11 quick store on 18th, the asian market on 21st and Garnett, and some local bands or artists? Keep it up. It’s refreshing to have someone showing this side of town. oh, and el rio verde, can’t miss that.

  2. Ace Hardware stores will not appear on Indie Tulsa. I have two reasons, but the main one is my definition of what constitutes “indie” — and a franchise operation simply doesn’t qualify.

But stay tuned. Best Hardware — which I assume is the store you are referring to — is no longer an Ace affiliate, and it’s on my to-review list. :)
